Our Ambassador

Mark Canning, CMG (Commander of the Order of St. Michael and St. George)

Welcome to the British Embassy website. Like the Embassy itself, our site is here to help you by providing information and guidance: British Government statements on Zimbabwe; projects funded by the Embassy; visas; passports; consular services; travel advice; and educational scholarships. There are links to other British government departments and institutions, including the other two members of the British team in Zimbabwe - the Department for International Development and the British Council . If there is other information you would like to see on the site, please let us know.

The British Embassy and Government are committed to the people of Zimbabwe. Your future matters to us. Prime Minister Gordon Brown announced that the United Kingdom is planning to spend $100 million in 2009/2010 to support Zimbabweans. This support ranges from tackling HIV/AIDS and improving health and sanitation to supporting agricultural smallholders and providing much needed school textbooks. The Britain-Zimbabwe Community Partnership Programme, funded by the Embassy, supports small-scale projects in communities around the country. With the British Council, the Embassy provides Chevening Scholarships, which enable some of Zimbabwe's most gifted young people to study in Britain. And we are working to promote reform and recovery in Zimbabwe, so that the future its people want - as a modern and prosperous democracy - can be brought closer. There is much work to be done. Together, we can do it.
